Buenos Aires, November 17 (NA)—Armed men, allegedly involved in an attack carried out early Monday in Kebbi state, northwest Nigeria, shot and killed a staff member after breaking into a state boarding school and kidnapping dozens of girls from their dormitory, police reported. The armed men, carrying sophisticated weapons and suspected of being 'bandits', scaled the school fence and 'kidnapped at least 25 students from their dormitory, taking them to an unknown destination', stated local police spokesman Nafiu Abubakar Kotakoshi at a press conference. Kotakoshi indicated that there could be more missing girls and another staff member was injured in the attack, according to the Xinhua news agency report accessed by Agencia Noticias Argentinas. The incident occurred at the Government Girls' Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, a community in the Wasagu/Danko Local Government Area of Kebbi, early Monday, it was stated. Government forces are searching for the kidnapped students, tracking known bandit routes and nearby forests, added Kotakoshi.
