Nigeria boosts counter-terrorism efforts with US support. Around 100 US soldiers have arrived in Nigeria to assist in combating extremist groups. It is reported that the total number of American military personnel to be deployed to the country could reach 200. Their primary mission is to train the Nigerian army in counter-terrorism tactics. In December, the US already conducted airstrikes against militants linked to ISIS. Currently, a small contingent of US military personnel is operating in Nigeria to help enhance the country's intelligence capabilities.
