Student Kidnapping in Nigeria

An undetermined number of students were kidnapped in the early hours of Friday when suspected terrorists attacked a Catholic school in central Nigeria. Information obtained by the Argentine News Agency (NA) was provided by Nigerian authorities. This is the second incident in less than a week targeting the Christian minority in Africa's most populous country. While the exact number of abducted young people is unknown, the local Arise TV channel reported that there were 52 victims. It is also reported that this attack on a religious building has caused tensions between Nigeria and the United States. This tension stems from the fact that earlier this month, President Donald Trump accused the Nigerian government of not paying attention to attacks on Christians and instructed the Department of War to consider possible actions. Furthermore, the American leader threatened military intervention in connection with a campaign of killings against Christians, which he said was being carried out by jihadists. These accusations were rejected by the African government.
