The army of Niger announced the elimination of 79 militants and suspected terrorists during operations carried out by security forces last week in various areas of the north-east of the country.

The armed forces of Niger continue their efforts in the fight against militants and criminal groups operating in the region. According to military information, operations took place in the province of Borna, where about 30 members of a terrorist organization were detained. As a result, a significant number of terrorists, their equipment, and fortifications were destroyed.

Among the eliminated militants were presumed members of the group "Boko Haram," responsible for a series of attacks and kidnappings in the region. In addition, operations were aimed at eliminating weapons storage bases and ammunition depots of the militants.

"The operations are aimed at establishing peace and security in the region, and our armed forces are ready to thwart any threat to peaceful citizens," stated a representative of the army.
